Get Yourself Curling in 23/24

Curling Season 2023/24 is fast approaching and I hope you are as excited as I am! I’ve been back on the ice training at the National Curling Academy now for 3 weeks… I know what you’re thinking, it’s still summer! Even so, entries for next season are starting to come out and I can’t wait to see everyone enjoying curling all around the country again. I’ve compiled a few options below for a variety of levels of curler, BUT this list is certainly not extensive and if there isn’t something that quite hits the spot for you, contact the team at BCS and we will do our best to advise on an event that may suit your needs.

 

National Gateway Challenge

Date: 23rd March 2023

Venue: Curl Edinburgh

Host: Scottish Curling

Player level: The Gateway Challenge is a great chance for beginner level curlers to play in an inter club event. Note that players must be a member of a Scottish Curling Virtual Club

Highlights; All teams will play 3 4 end games, one day event, excellent opportunity to meet curlers from other clubs

Scottish Curling Adult Camp (Over 21)

Date: 3rd-5th November 2023 OR 1st-3rd December 2023

Venue: North West Castle, Stranraer 

Host: Scottish Curling

Player level: Open to all curlers aged over 21 who are looking to improve their curling with some coaching

Highlights: Packed weekend with lots of coaching, learning, fun and social activities. All inclusive packages available at the North West Castle

British Players Open 

Date: 12th-14th January 2023

Venue: Forfar Indoor Sports Centre

Host: British Players Open

Player Level: Open to all, Male, Female or Mixed teams

Highlights: Triple knockout format, guaranteed at least 4 games. Lots of fun and social activities

Dumfries Lions Bonspiel

Date: 23rd-24th September 2023

Venue: Dumfries Ice Bowl

Host: Dumfries Ice Bowl Curling Association

Player Level: Open to all

Highlights: Raising funds for the Lions Club, Dumfries in memory of Jim McCormack

Kinross Superspiel

Date: 1st – 3rd December 2023

Venue: Kinross Curling

Host: Kinross Curling

Player lLevel: Open to all ages and abilities, Male, Female and Mixed teams

Highlights: Guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. Fun, social events in the evenings, including dinner on Friday and Saturday

European Junior Curling Tour

Date: 19th-21st January 2024

Venue: Dewars Centre, Perth

Host: European Junior Curling Tour

Player Level: Under 21 Male and Female events

Highlights: This is a brand new event, the first EJCT in Scotland since the closure of Braehead. The chance to play against top junior international curlers

Mercure Perth Masters

Date: 4th – 7th January 2024

Venue: Dewars Centre, Perth

Host: Mercury Perth Masters Committee

Player Level: Advanced Curler. 24 men’s teams, 12 women’s teams

Highlights: The opportunity to play against some of the world’s top teams in a high class event
